Website advice over breakfast
This week saw Richard Piotrowski of The Logic House speaking to the members of Cambridge Business Breakfast Club about what makes a good website. The fifteen minute presentation highlighted some of the advantages of having a good-looking, usable website for a business and unveiled the initial design for the new Cambridge Business Breakfast Club website.
Listeners were shown before and after examples of three websites that The Logic House had developed. Richard then talked about how many websites that looked good when they were made now look out of date and amateurish; seven years ago it was enough to have a websites but now a website needs to look professional and be easy to use.
If your website is five or more years old and needs improving call The Logic House now.
Fighting Britain's biggest killer
A pan-European project that could save millions of lives is powered by an extranet from The Logic House.
The Cardiogenics Project aims to discover genetic variations in humans that lead to coronary artery disease. By uncovering the underlying disease mechanisms they hope to be helping in developing new treatments. Researchers from twenty institutions and seven countries are working together to beat the disease that is currently Britain's single biggest killer.
Researchers from The Cardiogenics Project asked The Logic House to provide them with a solution to allow them to collaborate on publications. The resulting extranet provides a secure place for scientists to share the results of their work, combined with the structured process management needed to ensure scientific rigour.

The Logic House director Richard Piotrowski is featured in the April edition of the Cambridge Network magazine Connections.
In the article on how Cambridge business can deal with the proposed congestion charge through flexible working Richard is quoted as saying "The idea that every one of your employees should be in the same geographical location for 100% of the working day deserves its own place in the Museum of Technology."
Richard goes on to say "There are lots of good reasons for an employer to offer flexible working, not least the legislation that makes it a right for parents and carers. It's something that is easy to deliver and pays dividends."
